How to Get Surtur's Sword
Surtur's Sword (Twilight Sword) is the reward for defeating Surtur in the Catacombs. This multi-stage guide covers every step from the Heart of Ymir placement to the final fire giant boss fight.
Prerequisites
- Heart of Ymir — from Eson the Searcher
- Hadron Enforcer — for L5 shield breaking
- All six stones — for Snap of Ymir and Disintegrate
Phase 1: True Catacombs
- Use Snap of Ymir to freeze lava in the Catacombs upper section.
- Open the left brick door with white mortar using Charge (Q) + Disintegrate (E).
- Re-freeze lava if needed and enter the opposite door with Disintegrate.
- Place the Heart of Ymir on the blue glowing pedestal.
- Defeat 5 Servant of Celestial [Level 5] — break orange shields with Hadron Enforcer Explosion Projectile (yellow glow mode).
Phase 2: Crown of Black Fire
After the L5 wave, access the Crown Room in Lunar World. Wall symbols in the Catacombs near Jimmy's shop indicate the disintegrate number sequence. Solve the puzzle to earn the Crown of Black Fire.
Phase 3: Summon Surtur
- Return to Catacombs with the Crown of Black Fire.
- Use Snap of Ymir and place the Crown on the yellow pedestal behind the shop.
- Surtur spawns with Servant of Celestial [Dead] adds.
Phase 4: Defeat Surtur
Damage Surtur with Snap of Ymir + Disintegrate. His meteors are one-shot kills — dodge or Shield. Death forces repeating the Crown placement. Victory grants Surtur's Sword.
